This nodular basal cell carcinoma of the ear has a rolled border and a somewhat translucent appearance. Telangiectasia may be present. The differential diagnosis for basal cell carcinoma includes sebaceous hyperplasia, chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis, syringoma, actinic keratosis, keratoacanthoma, squamous cell carcinoma, Bowen's disease, seborrheic keratosis, or , occasionally rhinophyma. Pigmented basal cell carinomas may be mistaken for melanoma. Superficial BCCs may be mistaken for psoriasis or eczema.
